Welcome to our museum

Operation Dynamoand to our inaugural exhibition which features “The Miracle of Dunkirk”, in which 700 “Little Ships” (supported by 220 warships) sailed from the Kent coast and helped to evacuate 338,226 Allied troops from the beaches of Dunkirk between May 27th and June 4th 1940 in a military operation code-named "Operation Dynamo".

Spitfire Returned
THE SPITFIRE CAME BACK. The "Spirit of Kent" spitfire was joined by a parachute display from "The Tigers" (Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment) and an aerobatic display from Lauren Richardson in her Pitts Special bi-plane.

The day was a great success as many people came to see the three main events and visited the many stalls and the rain held off!

At 4pm the Ramsgate Mayor drew the winning tickets.

Heritage Lottery Fund

Our museum is delighted to announce that we have received a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund for our forthcoming "Ramsgate in World War One" project.

We are greatly indebted to the many kind people who have loaned or donated artefacts to our museum so that others can benefit from the learning experiences on offer.

Children of all ages have visited the museum, some with their schools and others with family members. These young people are our “tomorrow” and it is wonderful to see such interest being shown in modern history by those so young.

A “Friends of the Museum” scheme is now available for just £5 per annum to include a monthly edition of our e-newsletter “The Bunker”. For further details and an application form click on the "Friends of" link above or click here.
